What Overdeck Anywhere is
Overdeck runs on your own machine. Your agents, workspaces and conversations live there. Overdeck Anywhere is the set of features that let you and your work leave that machine:- continue an agent conversation on a different machine, including when the first one is switched off;
- reach your Overdeck from a laptop, phone or another service without opening ports;
- get a notification when an agent needs you;
- later, share a live session with someone else.
Roadmap
Most of Anywhere is open-source software you run yourself. The paid part comes last and consists of hosted services.What stays free and open source
These are not trials and do not expire:- Overdeck itself, including every feature that runs on your own machines.
- All of Session Vault Phase A: the
pan vaultcommands, the git and directory backends, end-to-end encryption, full version history, resume from any saved version, and moving your vault to another backend. Your vault can be as large as your own backend allows. - Per-machine servers, federation and SSH hosts. Connecting your own machines to each other needs no account and no subscription.

Planned plans and prices
Encryption. Your transcripts are encrypted on your machine before upload, with a key
only you hold. The hosted service stores ciphertext it cannot read, and your account never
gains the ability to decrypt it. This also means we cannot recover your vault if you lose
every device and your recovery phrase.
Deletion. Deleting your account deletes all of your hosted vault data within 24 hours.
Payments. We plan to sell through Creem as merchant of record.
Creem is the legal seller, so it collects and remits VAT, GST and sales tax where they
apply.
How we arrived at these prices
1. What comparable products charge
We looked at two groups, with prices as published in September 2026. Products that save or move AI coding sessions. Most of them do it for free, or as part of a subscription you already buy for model access. Claude Code’s Remote Control, included with Claude subscriptions, controls a session that is still running on its original machine. None of the products we found sell session storage by the gigabyte, and none encrypt agent transcripts with a key only the user holds. Paid sync or hosted add-ons on top of a free or open-source core:
Two conclusions:
- 10 monthly, is the settled price for an individual pro plan on a developer tool. Obsidian Sync Plus sits exactly there with 10 GB. We offer 100 GB at the same price, because storing it costs us very little (next section).
- Nobody should pay per gigabyte for this. Consumer cloud storage costs about $1.50 per 100 GB a month, so a per-gigabyte price above that would feel wrong. The price has to be for the workflow, not the bytes.
2. What it costs us to store your vault
Volume. A heavy user running many agents at once writes about 13 GB of raw transcripts a month. Transcripts compress well: zstd at level 3 shrank a sample of real transcripts by about 3.2x. That heavy user therefore adds about 4 GB of stored data a month and would take about two years to fill 100 GB. A typical single-agent user writes far less; we estimate 0.1 to 0.6 GB of stored data a month, but we have not measured it yet. Storage. The hosted vault is planned on Cloudflare R2 at $0.015 per GB-month, with no egress fee, which matters because restoring a conversation on a new machine is a download. Durable Objects hold each vault’s version pointers. Requests. A heavy user with ten agents saving every five minutes makes about 21,000 writes and 50,000 reads a month. On R2 with Workers and Durable Objects that costs about $0.16 a month. All-in cost per user per month:
A free user costs us at most about 4 cents a month, so a free hosted tier is affordable. The
fixed platform cost is small (Cloudflare Workers has a $5 monthly minimum). The real cost of
running this is support time: lost keys, billing questions and sync bugs.
3. Payment fees
Creem charges 3.9% plus 7 or 1% of each payout. The fixed $0.40 is what shapes the plan:
In countries with VAT or GST the fee is charged on the tax-inclusive amount, so its share of
our revenue there is somewhat higher.
4. What the price pays for
Storage and requests for a user at the full 100 GB cap cost us about 4 of a $96 annual plan. The rest of the price pays for building and maintaining Overdeck, supporting subscribers, and the parts of Anywhere that are not built yet. The relay and push notifications will add cost that we have not modeled yet. We will build that cost model before the relay leaves beta. Hosted agent compute is the one thing whose cost scales directly with use, which is why it is billed by usage instead of being included.5. Why annual billing
Because of the fixed 10 for people who want to try it without committing, but the annual price is 20% lower (120), the same discount Raycast and Obsidian use. The founding price is annual only for the same reason.6. Why the vault is not sold on its own
A standalone “encrypted backup of your transcripts” competes with free tools and with Obsidian Sync Standard at 3 to $5 a month card fees would take 12% to 17% of it. Its honest price would be low, and most of it would go to fees. What the vault does that nothing else does is let your work follow you: continue on your laptop while your desktop is off, from any saved version, across harnesses, with a key only you hold. That is the same promise as the relay, push notifications and, later, shared sessions. So the vault anchors one Anywhere subscription instead of being a separate product. At launch only the vault exists, so we would be charging a bundle price for one feature. The founding price addresses that: $60 a year, locked for as long as you stay subscribed, until the relay ships or 500 people have joined.7. Why self-hosting stays ungated
- It is the promise the project was built on. Weakening the free git backend would break that promise, and the promise is worth more than the subscriptions it might add.
- It removes lock-in. You can start self-hosted, move to the hosted vault, and move back
with
pan vault migrate. - It does not take much away from the paid plan. Encrypted records cannot be delta compressed, so a heavy user outgrows a free git host’s recommended repository size in a few months. The people who value the vault most are the ones most likely to want someone else to run it. Bitwarden and Atuin both publish their servers and still run popular hosted services.
8. Why a free hosted tier and not a trial
Every direct alternative stores sessions for free, so a time-limited trial would lose the “try it” comparison. The 1 GB free tier costs us about 4 cents per user a month. Transcripts only grow, so the free tier fills up on its own for anyone who uses it heavily, and no feature needs to be held back to encourage upgrades. Version history is never gated, because resuming from any saved version is the point of the vault.9. Why there is no team plan yet
Every record is encrypted with a single key that one person holds. Sharing a vault with a team needs a key-sharing design, and it depends on shared sessions (PAN-658). We will not publish a team price until that design exists.What we still need to learn
- How much a typical user actually stores. The vault collects no telemetry, so we plan a
local
pan vault statscommand and will ask early users to share its output. - What the relay costs to run per user.
- Whether people will pay 60 at the founding price. We plan a waitlist before launch.
